Cheiridopsis speciosa

Cheiridopsis speciosa belongs to the Ice Plant Family (Aizoaceae), and it is interesting all year long for its fleshy blue-green finger-like leaves. But in winter it bursts forth with brilliant flowers, which start out red-orange with magenta at the center. After a few days, the whole flower turns more purplish and loses any hint of orange. From Namaqualand in South Africa’s northwest.
