The Hylocereus megalanthus seedlings (1 month) are already more successful than my last attempt at raising cactuses from supermarket dragon fruit! You can see the cactus bits forming above the cotyledons.

The bottom photos (From Wikimedia Commons) are what they end up growing into as adults and what the fruits look like. They’re vining cactuses that climb trees and other structures in their natural habitat.

Whaaat I can grow them from the fruit just like that?? Been trying to find that cactus without the friggin moon cactus on top

Yup! They’re pretty easy to germinate as well! Most of the challenge is getting the babies to root and establish I think. I tried red dragonfruit last year but wasn’t able to to root them properly so they never grew past the cotyledon stage, so I’m happy I got it to work out this year!

Cleaning the fruit residue off the seeds is a little annoying though. 😛

Omggg gonna go friggin try it now

Any specific reason why they didn’t root properly?
