So I ask my fellow Ohio gardener’s what was this, since for more than 7 years I’ve been seeing this tree by the apple and pear trees from down the road that I harvest from. Come to find out is Black Walnuts!!!! ? you telling me I’ve missed nuts?!! Harvest season starts beginning of September, so that means I will be at war with the squirrels ? I’m feeling lucky ?

So look what we have down the road… a crabapple tree! And we picked and picked away!!!! This tree has to be at least 100 years old. It’s gigantic! It’s as big or more than the old maple trees around here. The trunk is huge. I’ll be making some jelly in the next few days. The crabapples are small to medium size with a dark green and burgundy skin color.
